Suspicious marks: Parallel scratches from mechanical processing
Red Flags in Forgeries: Local discoloration from chemical treatments

3. Scale & Symmetry

Originals: Precise manual craftsmanship
Warning signs: Slight size deviations in ornaments
Indicators of Forgery: Asymmetry in symbolic elements (e.g., triquetra, clan crests)

4. Patina & Aging Signs

Authentic Patina: Uniform oxidation consistent with age
Warning signs: Artificially induced "aging" (e.g., sulfur-induced tarnishing)
Indicators of Forgery: Damage inconsistent with historical use (e.g., deep scratches on protected surfaces)

5. Reference Photo Comparison

Use original photos: (if available) to check
Engravings: Depth, position, and font of historical inscriptions
